Philippe de Blassac, the lover of the Marquise de Beauséjour, an influential woman who reigns over the Bordeaux society, leaves his mistress to marry Sarah, a young Jewish girl. But the Marquise, bitter and jealous, will not hear of it. What she wants is to take revenge and nothing else.
